New guy
New guy
Hey there!
my wife and I recently bought a 2006 Mini S for her to commute to work with. She’s always wanted a mini, and I found a great deal on this one, so here we are..
last night the crank pulley came apart on her, and we had it towed back to the house. Looking into upgrade options (because you ALWAYS upgrade!) I’m seeing 2% and 4% pulley upgrades, but not a lot of info on that route. Mostly seeing supercharger pulley mods.
I have a guy here that does vehicle tunes with a dyno. If I do a 2% pulley, do I need to swap anything else? Are injectors needed for a 2% pulley upgrade? Maybe a nice exhaust before I have it tuned?
Any direction would be appreciated. Wanting to add a little, without getting too carried away.

Hi and welcome to NAM, JRose!
Congrats on your Mini buy, as the 06MCS is a top choice in a Mini!
AS it is getting older, it will need maintenance to be done and the crank pulley fails 100% of the time!
Is it manual or automatic? whichever it is, it needs to be serviced.
Oil changes need to be 100% synthetic.
FUEL: Only use premium, or your going to cause more problems then you want!
Using the correct fuel, will make your Mini more efficient and give you better MPGs and eliminate a bunch of code issues. Cheap fuel will cost you a ton of unwanted headaches.
Has you Mini got and codes now? We can help! Go to the gen 1 area and see what is said about you generation Mini (the best year ever!)
We would love to see some pics!

It’s a manual. So far I’ve only put premium in it, and just changed the oil using full synthetic.
It has a O2 sensor code (pulled at Oreily where it gave up at), but I’m almost certain the crank pulley has come apart. I pulled the front o2 sensor and checked it this morning and it ohm’d out good. Plus, the burning rubber smell isn’t something I’d expect from a clogged cat or o2 sensor.
Looking at an ATI pulley now. I’ll probably throw a front crank seal, water pump, and change the supercharger oil as well.

Welcome.
Don't get down with the work you need to do to catch up with the lack of maintenance from previous owner(s) once you catch up it will leave you with a smile machine.
Good looking car, keep those GEN1s on the road.
