1st ever post

Hello from ny! I have a 2010 clubman s. On cold starts it runs awful! Misfire on all 4 cylinders. After a few revs it smoothes out. I have replaced the plugs and coil packs. A local tech suggested a can of sea foam in the tank. Same symptoms. He then cleaned the valves of carbon. Twice. He says the hpfp is working right. Anybody have an idea what i should do next? Getting frustrated. Cel is on and car has 46000 miles on it.

Hi and welcome to NAM!
Before you throw a bunch of parts on it, pay an indie shop to run a scan on it, to see what codes, both common and hidden. It may just need a cam or crank position sensor!

Welcome to NAM.

Yes would think the ECU would have some codes.

Welcome.

P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0301 Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected
P0302 Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected
P0303 Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected
P0304 Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected
B2AAA (I don't have a listing of this one)
P173B MINI - CAN Engine Coolant Temperature Invalid

Sound like the Coil Pack might be cracked. I would check Coil Pack, Ignition Wires, and Spark Plugs. Check for cracks, corrosion, wear or torn boots, and rust.

But that is only a start.

Best of Luck.

Motor On!

With these codes, usually the cam position sensor and or the crank position sensor and prime candidates for replacing!

When this one is on: P173B MINI - CAN Engine Coolant Temperature Invalid.
The thermostat needs replacing, or the DME (ECU) may have an issue.

Make sure to get some contact cleaner and spray all the wiring connections you have disconnected are sprayed. Also the main coil plug is a corrosion area and special attention should be done to it!
