New Mini(s) - '10 Mayfair and '07 Sidewalk JCW
Hello from Baton Rouge
We purchased our first Mini a couple of months ago -- 2010 Mini Copper S Mayfair Edition for one of our college-age daughters. Wife found the car -- low miles (27,000 miles) was the deal clincher to be honest.
My wife fell so hard for this little "adorable" car -- that she immediately had me hunting her a convertible to drive on sunny days.
As hunted wife a Mini -- both agreed that the R52 had a more retro look -- and wife got hooked on Sidewalk edition interior. Hunted and hunted -- expanded the search (<300 miles) -- expanded again (<500 miles) and then expanded again (nation-wide) -- she knows exactly the features it must have. Found a couple -- one sold before we could get to it in Atlanta.
I finally found her car -- although it needs a little attention and loving before can drive it - salvage title in PA - I love working on cars/jeeps/etc -- so fun for me! Car we found has factory JCW. Miles on car in 90-100k range -- won't know for sure until car arrives here in Baton Rouge later this week.
With two Mini Coopers to maintain -- I am sure I'll be regular on this forum!

Admins -- anyway to change our member profile name on forum? We created it when only owned ONE Mini Cooper Mayfair -- want to update our name now to reflect TWO Mini Coopers!

Car arrived home last night - unfortunately I AM NOT HOME!
My wife called and car arrive last night.
THE NOT SO GOOD
Looks like going to need little more TLC than hoped. She says whoever owned before did not take very good care of her - "filthy inside". They also grabbed few JCW Cooper S badges when sent her off to be junked. Also ripped out "sidewalk edition" door sill trim so ill be hunting set of those. Stitching in driver seat came apart so that seat will need some repair$. She says drivers seat also broken - but just stuck reclined and think ive found a fix for that.
THE GOOD
Damage from accident is not bad at all. Rear trunk lid and bumper will be replaced (already picked from donor flood car in houston last weekend). Right rear tailight broken - but we are planning led anyway. So damage not bad at all - tbh not sure how the heck State Farm totalled car.
UNKNOWNS
Top work or not? Car outside anf wife didnt want to try with me not home (she hasnt learned drive a stick yet)
Mechanicals - i plan to preventatively attack all normal stuff
