New to the forum

Hi All,

New to the forum, feel free to call me BamBam (as my family started to refer to me as this I was told it is because I am the reason we can't have nice things). I have a 2006 Mini Cooper S manual trans that I got a couple years back now. Originally got it because we needed a commuter while stationed in San Diego. Since then my little go cart has grown on me. Currently used for work commuting and driving for things like door dash. I need to fix the exhaust because it has decided to completely separate right after the pre catalic I have seen it called. Would like to replace the entire exhaust but don't have the money right now. Think I am just going to try and weld it as best I can then use some exhaust sealer around it just to make sure I get the holes all covered up. Since I use my Go cart to deliver for supplemental income I want to look into seeing how possible it is to switch the hatch door for a set of clubman doors. Just think it would be easier for allot of loading and unloading. Not the biggest fan of hatches, had a few to many drop down onto my head, to include the one on my mini, the shocks gave out one day and my warning was a smack to the back of the head. Well thanks for reading, now off to search threads to see what other people have done.

-BamBam

Welcome to the forum. Are you still in the Service? Always good to have more active duty members of the forum. Retired USAF here.
I'm not an expert on the 1st Gen cars, but I'm sure some will chime in soon about your exhaust issues. As far as the hatch... I've never heard of it being done and it would probably cost a fortune if it is possible. If you want the barn doors you'll most likely have to go with a 2nd or 3rd Gen Clubman.

Thanks for the welcome. Yes I am still in the Navy, have a little bit left before retirement.
I kinda figured on the whole barn door thing, I was hoping that maybe the back end for the doors would be similar enough that it would be just cut out the brackets for one style door and weld in brackets for the other side of the door.

Welcome to NAM.

Don't think I have seen anything on putting Gen2 Clubman doors on a Gen1 car but with enough money and time can most likely be accomplished.

Hi and welcome to NAM!
You can just have the exhaust welded back together and save yourself a bundle.
The door mod sounds likw it would be a bear, but if there is the will, there is the way!

Thank you for the replies. So I admit to my ignorance on the barn doors for my mini. Didn't know that it was second gen and later that got the barn doors. Well now I know, and knowing is half the battle. GI JOE!!!!
As for the exhaust though there is a pull a part in my area with a first gen mini. Going to go check it out this weekend. I am hoping that it has what I need to just grab that stick it on my and run it like that while I just get some pipe and do a pre cat delete on the old header, then put it back on the mini. That way I can still use my go cart and will have the time hopefully to do a decent job on the pre cat delete mod.
