First Mini, first non-Japanese car
First Mini, first non-Japanese car
Hi everyone,
I have been slightly in the market for the last few months just tossing the idea of picking up a Mini Cooper, and then last Sunday I saw one, and after some time of trying to talk myself out of it, I test drove it and it was a done deal. Even paid asking price.
I'm no stranger to fun cars, but its been a while since I've really had the time to enjoy one as I decided to go back to school a little later than most do, lol.
I'm looking forward to learning more about these cars and my car (I think its an R56, is that a chassis code?) and about the things I can and should/shouldn't do to it.
I really love the look of it, but I really need to find a good way to carry my bike with it so that, and tinting the windows, are first up on the list of to do's.

Hi and welcome to the NAM family. You can get those bits for your car from vendors here and I am sure they would love to help you.
Show us some pics of your car, when you get a chance!

Yea, what Wayne said, without pictures, it didn't happen.
As to your experience with Japanese cars, these guys are a little different. You can't just drive 'em and forget 'em. They need paid attention to as in check fluids regularly, the tires need rotated at around 5K due to built in camber AND, they need driven on really crooked roads to get the most out of the fun factor those other appliances don't have. Welcome to the world of MINI, to really get into it, investigate some of the national rallies held each year; MITM (Aug 9-13-Steamboat Springs CO), MITO (Oct 26-29 Eureka Springs AR), MOTD (May of '18).

Not off to such a great start. Less than a week into the car and got that weird half CEL, code appears to be P10D0. Air charge temperature sensor. Im currently looking into that and trying to work with the dealership that sold me the car under the assurance that it was checked thoroughly by a 3rd party mechanic. Im so hoping this is just a small hiccup and not a glimpse into the future lol
