Good afternoon.
I've been trolling the site for several months trying to find out more information on mini's. As a big BMW fan, I couldn't help resist. Earlier this week I picked up a low mileage 07 MCS Checkpoint Model and drove it about 1100 miles home to Pittsburgh. I have a few things to sort out on it, (tach, oil light, ELM light flickers, brakes) but all in all it's a fantastic, fun car. It really reminds me of my 72 BMW 2002 (on the bmwfaq under the same name), but only front wheel drive.
Thanks and I look forward to being an active member of the group.

Guys thanks A TON for all of the well wishes and advice. MANY thanks James for the battery info. I'm going to look at it today and will let you know what I see. Order about $350 in maintenance stuff over the weekend. can't wait to dive into the car! My kids, 9 & 12, are both dying to get their hands dirty.

Exactly ECS! my 12 year old is a tall kid for his age and is his mind is ready to learn to drive stick shift.
I started drive stick shift cars at nine years old. Started racing motorcycles at 10 yr old.
It is never too early to learn to drive. In my case family helped me to build a Crosley and I drove that around the property for several years.
(this is an internet photo to show size. It was tiny to begin with.)
This is what they looked like before we made it for me at nine years old. It was a 1947 model, built 1959 to my needs. Time flys when you are having fun!
now that is AWESOME!!!
9 years old to drive that would be epic.
I can certainly can see how you'd be drawn to the mini.
thanks for sharing!
When we made the crosley into my car, we removed the body, made seating that fit me, added another transmission behind the three speed, so it could be geared way down, but it was used only the first day, the reason: The factory tires were replaced with the air type wheels and tires, which were 8" rims and stock wheel barrow tires.
I went on to get two BMW Isseta 300 front opening door cars. I actually rolled one and never told my parents!LOL
internet photo, as all my 50s photos are long gone, except for one damaged pic of my first car (Crosley).
As you can see, small cars have always communed with me and I owned many tiny cars, over my 67 years. The Mini Coopers talked to me and I enjoy driving them!
A few I have: These are with me now
