Hello

Hello,

Im Tom currently living in philadelphia. looking at buying a 2013 Mini coupe JCW. My question is how has the tuning progressed? Back in jan 2016 I bought a 2009 Bmw 135i only 45k miles currently, Fantastic car went FBO+ and started doing my own tuning on it through the MHD android app and adjusting the values through tuner pro. When I bought the car the MHD app was not out yet and I had to buy tunes and use the BMW iFlash from my PC. After all my mods and work and now my own custom tuning my car was an almost 200MPH slipstream 1 mile car. On E85 I was getting over 550 WHP.

So my question is Are there any tuners working on app tuning for this platform? The reason sadly I have to switch is the ins company is totaling my car over powder puff issues I dont have the capital to keep it so Im forced to take their payout (which they are fighting me on) and look for another fun car. Any low mile N54 with the 6MT is starting to get a bit out of my current price range. Since this is my second "fun" car and Liberty Mutual isnt paying me enough to replace it...

Looking for any thoughts on a tuning app similar to what I had on the BMW.

Sorry there isn't any app style tuning for that car and won't be anytime soon if ever due to the code needed to tune through the OBD port. We do tunes on them all the time but has to be done by plugging directly into the ECU or through the laptop and takes a couple hours to do.

Welcome to NAM, Tom! Hope you get your tuning figured out. If you give some companies a call that do tuning for the MINI platforms, they'd be able to tell you best. You can also try asking your question in the vehicle specific section of the forum for a better response from other MINI owners. From looking on Google I believe the curb weight for your JCW coupe is 2,712 lbs and the R56 JCW is 2,668 to 2,767 lbs. Anyways, good luck and if you need anything else for your MINI please don't hesitate to ask.

I contacted Evolve and Manic. Still hoping someone goes and makes an app for the tuning like they did on the n54 and n55 BMW platforms... owever so far it does seem that the Coupe weighs a tad more than the stock hardtop because of the added reinforcement since it is built on the roadster platform.

SO.... 2 questions...

1,) Does this additional chassis stiffness equate to better on track performace?

2,) or is it just weight no benefit at all?

I am leaning toward the looks of the coupe... and hey i like being a bit different.
