Cheeky seats!

Hi all,

Can anybody explain the differences between the seats available on 2016 Convertibles?

I've been trying to order an S Convertible but ran into an issue with the sport seats: my wife says they are "the most uncomfortable things she's ever sat in" and that they pinch in places she doesn't want to be squeezed. The base seats are great.

The salesman I've been working with thought it'd be easy to delete the sport seats and sub in the base seats, but when he went to the configurator the option was gone. He's checking with MiniUSA on where it went, but I haven't heard back in several weeks. I hope to talk to him tomorrow, but in this case I assume that no news is bad news.

So I'm trying to figure out my options. I had thought that there were two basic seat options: the base seats and the sport seats (with different covers, but otherwise the same). When we drove an S with brown (I think Chesterfield) leather seats though they rated "not so bad". Obviously different.

Before we go back down to butt-test again I want to understand what we need to test. Which seats are the same shape and which are just cosmetically different? Also, are the seats the same on the Convertible and the non-Convertibles? I doubt there are enough Convertibles on the lot to fill the test matrix.

Many thanks!

The seats in the past on the convertible vs. non convertible are the same on the front seats, the only difference is that the convertible has a larger side/ head airbag. But thats tucked under the seat cover so they look the same as the hardtop seats.

Thanks!

It sounds like the seat difference was the lounge leather seats being slightly cushier than the standard sports seats, but it turned out moot. After a few more rounds they were able to get the sport seat deletion into the system and the configuration I wanted is on order without any compromises.

Now as he said, it's time to hurry up and wait. Whee. Hope we have a long summer!
