I just learned that I am soon going to be the caretaker of a 2005 Mini Convertible (with a CVT trans) if all goes well. GF's daughter may be buying one, which means I'd better start learning about them a bit.
Drove the car today (my first Mini experience) and I really enjoyed it. I've been a Miata guy for years, so I can appreciate cars that are small and fun.
Welp, that's my intro. Gonna poke around on here and learn as much as I can before I start asking dumb questions.
Welcome to NAM! If you need any help with it when she picks it up be sure to check out our articles under the tech info tab at the top of our site. Would love to see some pictures.
Have an r52 myself also,. with the CVT you have to be careful as they tend to have allot of problems and the fluid flush will help extend the life. There was ongoing issue with these.
ECST, yes the CVT has me a little worried. Luckily this car comes with a pile of service records and I reckon the fluid was flushed a few times already. I'll plan on doing one as soon as possible.
On that topic.... The nearest MINI dealer is 3 hours away. In this particular predicament, is this something most any shop can do, given the proper fluids, or is this a "their house only" thing?
