R53 new owner here! My first car!

Hello y'all!!

I bought my first car and I can not be happier. I have always wanted a Mini Cooper S but the R56 but i got a R53 and I'm so happy. I'm from Barcelona, Spain but I live in Michigan City, Indiana for school. I bought this 05 MCS from a very good friend that needed to sell it with 66700 miles for just $5500. I guess it's a good deal for the price and the miles...

The car is actually stock but I have some projects in my mind such as:

- Alta Air Intake (pending to buy it).
- OBX Catback Exhaust (its sitting in the garage but not installed yet).
- Red Alta Intercooler Air Diverter (pending to buy it)
- Change all 4 rims and tires to 17". (pending to buy it soon).
- Install 15% or 17% Alta Pulley (pending to buy it soon).
- Alta Intercooler Couplers R53 (already installed)
- Paint the front grill and "0" plastic around the headlights in gloss black (done).
- Paint the tank gas cap in gloss black (done).
- Install 1,5" or 2" wheel spacers (I have to decide if I'll do it but not bought it yet).
- Coilovers or just buy lower springs (pending to buy it).
- Install Boost and Oil or Air pressure gauges (pending to buy it).
- Change hydraulic upper motor mount (already done it).
- 8000k Xenon Bulb HID (done it)
- Changed ALL bulbs inside and outside of the car for LEDs (done it)
- Smoke turn signals lamps in the front of the car and the tail lights (done it)

As you see I have a lot to do but this is the first month that I have this car and I LOVE IT.

Any suggestions on what else to do to my r53?
Do you guys know any good website that has good deals in mini parts?

Bienvenidos a NAM!

I'd get the 15% pulley. I have one in my R53 and like it, but I guess there are some who like the 17%, too.

You might look at some strut defenders, too, to help eliminate the strut towers bulging due to having hit potholes.

A "Light in Sight" will help you when you get too far under a stop light [it will save you an actual pain in the neck].

Camber plates will really aid you in cornering. I have Ireland fixed plates.

16" wheels will ride softer than 17s. I have both and hate my 17s.

Bring your car to MOTD in NC this May and have Jan put a tune in it.

Welcome to NAM. Very clean looking R53. I really love the yellow and the black accents. They really tie your MINI color scheme together well. For coil overs, look into ST coils HERE. They're a great bang for your buck coil over and are manufactured very well for the price. Any type of lowering you do to your MINI you'll most likely want to invest in a good set of adjustable rear control arms. We have the Hotchkis arms HERE as they're a great quality product. A nice compliment and one of the best bang for your buck mods that you can do to your R53 is a rear sway bar HERE. Also, when it comes time to replace your OE bushings, look into Powerflex bushings HERE, especially the lower control arm bushings. Their bushings provide prolonged tire life, improve performance, better handling and they are more cost-effective than OEM bushings. These mods should really dial in your MINI's handling. If you have any questions let me know and enjoy!
