hello everyone.
i have a question regarding luggage racks. i bought a pre-owned mini about 5 months ago & haven't been able to find a key for them :/ they are not 'mini' racks, as they don't have the mini logo on them, or any logo for that matter. all i can see is where the key would go, there is a '019' engraved on it. i really want to take them off. is there anyone here who owns racks with that number on them.? i'll buy them or if someone could let me borrow, i'll ship them back i promise.

 

you may have a Thule rack...I do and the engraving is n 184....so I guess that is numbering on the key set. Compare your rack to the Thule- there are several depending upon the mini you have. The lockset is about $50- so maybe even a visit to a local locksmith to get one off and have a key made would be worth it. You could also write Thule if yours matches one of theirs and ask for a 019 key for your rack.

 

Yes, whats the brand ? Some brands you can get the locks / cylinder separate.

 

I've had this issue before. I'd recommend calling a lock smith as they will most likely be able to cut you a new key for it. I believe they take a mold of the inside of the lock in order to do this.

 

i wish i knew what brand the racks are but they have no logo or anything. each rack has a "faded sticker" kind of mark :/ but that'a all. nothing is legible. i can only assume a sticker used to be there. they don't seem like thule racks, i think mine is just a base roof system or something like that. i'll keep trying. thanks everyone for your input, i really appreciate it.
