Your Thoughts Before I Order

Hello, my name is Tim and I live in New Jersey. What a great community of MINI enthusiasts, and I'm excited to (shortly) become a part of it!

I was hoping for advice, though I recognize that the questions I'm asking are really about personal preference. That said:

1) I'm going to order a new Countryman in Cosmic Blue, and I'm inclined to go with the black roof and black bonnet stripes. While I think the combination of black and blue throughout the car looks complimentary and awesome, I've not seen this combination in person. Does this group think that the black on blue stripes are just too subtle?

2) And along this same line, I've never imagined myself a colored wheel guy - always preferred silver. However, with the Cosmic Blue and black theme in play, I'm thinking about going with the Anthracite wheels (pure black wheels seem a bit dark for me). But again, wondering how this community would view this color combination. If I don't go with Anthracite, I'd go with the standard silver wheels.

Thanks very much, and Happy Thanksgiving to my new friends in the USA.
Best,
Tim

I've got black stripes on dark grey car and they don't really pop at all.

With OEM pads, dark wheels hide brake dust.

Ultimately it's all personal preference, just go for what makes you happy.

Hello Tim and welcome. Any time I see a car with black wheels the first thought that crosses my mind is the poor sob lost his hubcaps and can't afford to replace them. But then again, I'm an old fart.

LOL. In addition to my thoughts on black wheels, any time I see bronze or gold colored trim of any kind my first thought is pimpmobile.

Hi, Tim. I urge you to look at lots of Minis to check-out options, wheels, striping, and color combinations--and not to order anything you have not actually seen. Photos and the configurator are not always accurate. I like to visit area Mini dealers just to walk the lot when they are not open to check this stuff out. Their inventory changes all the time. For me, BTW, black wheels seem to get "lost" on a car--but that's just my taste. Good luck!

My thoughts too on black wheels. They look fine on some cars. They have been the rage, but they really don't show up much in the wheel wells. If you don't like cleaning wheels, flat black works best. On a dark car, dark gray or titanium colors do the menace look trick and still show the wheel pattern well enough.

Welcome to NAM, Tim! You might lose the stripes on the Cosmic Blue, but have you thought about maybe adding a pin stripe with color onto the sides of the stripes? I'm one of those who like the black wheel look. (May be the odd man out on this).
