I finally bought mine!

Hi everyone!
So after searching for 3 years i finally bought a pepper white 2004 Mini Cooper S!
It needs some work (and some paint) but I can't complain for what i paid for it!Just wanted to say hello as i read through some of the DIY's and prepare for what is probably a Power steering pump since it makes a lil whine when i turn the wheel left and right and not moving (but no noise when driving!)
So hello from Northern NJ!!

Hey i have a quick question. I have a really small amount of play in the steering when I'm going fast...Over 50, its about a half inch that i can wiggle but when it "catches" its totally responsive and steers awesome. I can see the strut tower bearings are crashed but would that cause that tiny amount of play?

I'd start with the strut mounts if you see that they're bad as that would be the first clue as to why you have a bit of play. Can buy a set here. This DIY can help with their replacements. This DIY about doing a strut tower reinforcement plate might also be a good idea while you're in there as there is an inherent design flaw in the upper strut tower area.
