my R53 is coming along...thanks to NAM
my R53 is coming along...thanks to NAM
I purchased my first Mini, an 03 Cooper base, about a year ago. It was then that I signed up here at NAM and started researching. Not long after that, and realizing my mistake, I traded it in for an 03 Cooper S
. I liked my R50 though, and it lit the Mini fire in me. For that, I am thankful to that little guy.
I then began researching mods, and ways to customize it to make the car mine. Although I haven't posted here, I have spent many hours reading through the forums. I want to thank all those who replied to my pm's, and to those who have shared their vast knowledge in the forums. It has been invaluable to me, as I'm sure it has to many others.
So with that said, I think the car is coming along nicely. It's starting to turn some heads on the road. I'm having the ricers rev their engines at me, and I'm getting some waves from fellow Mini owners. I've done a lot, but there's always so much more to do!
I wanted to post a proud pic or two to show it off because racecar...and as a way to say thanks to all here at NAM! Motor on!!

I went with Megan Racing Coilovers and I have to say that after reading all the negativity about Megans, I'm impressed with them. The ride is completely different from stock, and feels great. I also replaced the run flats at the same time so I think that had something to do with the feeling of the ride too.
Also upgraded rear adj control arms Hsport, 19mm H&R sway bar, and power flex front control arm and sway bar bushings.

Welcome to NAM and what a great looking Mini! The color combination reminds me of a very popular combination that Miata owners do. My little brother has a '97 red mx5 with white wheels. It's a great color combination. Really loving the style of those wheels as well. Great job. If you need any other help with your mods or fixes, please don't hesitate to ask or you can check out our tech articles here and of course parts here.
