New MC Owner

I recently just purchased a 2004 MC base with 49,000 miles on it. Absolutely love the car, but within 48 hours the a/c went out. I have ordered all the parts to repair (Compressor, condenser, expansion valve, drier, seals) after performing a complete diagnostics on the a/c. It appears the compressor clutch coil went out, but after cracking it open it was apparent the compressor also failed (Leaking oil) and the clutch was damaged. I decided to replace as much as I could since this will be my daughters car in a couple years. My issue is, when flushing the system can you flush the evaporator or do you need to remove the a/c lines to keep debris from passing through it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks----Rob

Welcome to the MINIacs!

OH, the dreaded AC service... I have rebuilt a few but when it comes to filling/charging the AC I take it to a shop that has the proper tools, where they can test and purge it prior to filling.

Best of luck.

Motor on!

Thanks for the help. It seems mechanics have different opinions on how to flush the system and what has to be put together in order to do it. I have an A/C mechanic who has all the tools to complete it, but he doesn't have the time right now to do the entire replacement. I already have everything out of the car, but just need to make sure before installing new parts, I don't have to perform a complete flush. Or if I do, what gets flushed. Seems odd you would flush new parts and possibly introduce debris into them and risk contamination or damage. I also can't seem to find step by step instructions on how to flush the system. Any help????
