Hello everyone.. Just got my first Mini this weekend for my wife.. Its a 2011 S turbo, 6 speed, convertible.. Heres a little info about me.. I have been a turbo junkie since the mid 80s.. When Carroll Shelby built the 500 GLHS omnis. I still have one.. Named my Daughter "Shelby" after the car and my son "Race" after what I did with the car.. I run 22 psi of boost with Methanol injection.. Its a stupid fast car !!
Anyway I am new to the "new school" turbo cars.. This past weekend my wife found a Mini S convertible she really liked.. Car runs great... It has a sport button, but I have not seen what it does yet.. I am not really allowed to play with "her" car.... yet... Are there any issues or potential problems I should be aware of?? Thank you for any help, and glad to be here....

Good to see someone else that won't laugh at me for liking the Omni GLHS. My friend in high school had one that ran 10.2 1/4 mile and I wanted one ever since. The coolest sleeper car around.

 

Welcome to the forum! As a new generation boost head myself I'm happy to see fans of the original turbo'd cars are appreciating the Mini even with the baby K03 turbo.

 

Back when the GLHS was new, I was making car payments with the street racing money I made.. (didn't say i was smart just liked to go fast) I ran 3 stages of Nitrous at the time also (50-100-150 hp) Busted many V8 egos and big block cars too... And when I did get beat, who is gonna brag they just outran a Dodge Omni 4 door 4 cylinder..
Now much older, I do not use Nitrous, just high boost !!! The car when it hits 20psi in third gear will begin to fry the front tires... Still a fun car, and ugly, 28 years later..
