So, I'm new/not new. I joined in 2009, but only made my first post today. I have a Dark Silver '07 MCS that I love to pieces, but it's in the shop getting the chain tensioner replaced, along with lots of other expensive bits and pieces. Oh, well- I've had it for 5 years and this is the first real issue I've had.
Anyway, I've lurked around here long enough to know this is a great community and I just wanted to say hello.

Glad you got many years out of your MINI before it needed work. Maybe you'll get another 6-7 years before it needs more!


Owning an '07 myself, may I ask how many miles and what needed replacement? I'm only at 55K and had the timing chain done and did the thermostat, brakes (as failure/wear items) myself.

 

I'd just hit 46,000 when I dropped it off. Aside from the timing chain work, it had a cracked oil canister and the turbo tubes got replaced. I'm picking it up tomorrow, so I'll be able to better report exactly what was wrong- I'm going on shaky memory here.
I also got some new wheels, so I'll share a pic soon.

 

Look forward to your report. I hope you get to take you MINI out for a good long drive on some twisties to break in those new parts!

 

Got the car back today- new oil filter housing gaskets and turbo lines, new return and oil pipes, new timing chain assembly, oil change, and four new R112s. I left $2700 lighter...

Thanks! I've got some noise coming from the front left tire, which is frustrating after having spent so much. I'll get it sorted out this weekend.
