Programming a key fob 2010 Clubman

I lost one of my key fobs which leaves me with one. Too scary so I bought one on ebay for $22. It says it is made for my car. Is it true that they can be programmed to work with my car? Or is it something you need special equipment for?

Must be bought from dealer with your ID and proof of registration. Sounds like the part you bought might not work.
