Newbie Question re my New Mini

Hi everyone! Just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and ask what may be a very basic question.
Ive had my new 2013 Mini Cooper S hatch back for about two weeks now and I still find myself pretending to need things from the grocery store just so that I have an excuse to drive it.
I'm a bit confused by the whole R55, R56, R70 thing. How do I know which one applies to my year, make and model?

Not an expert here, but I know these are Mini development series. The "R" is a remnant of when Mini was still under Rover (I read somewhere).

These are from the Forum main page:
R50/R53 :: Hatch (2002-2006)
R52 :: Cabrio (2005-2008)
R55 :: Clubman (2008+)
R56 :: Hatch (2007+)
R57 :: Cabrio (2009+)
R58 :: Coupé (2012+)
R59 :: Roadster (2012+)
R60 :: Countryman
R61 :: Paceman

It's the chasis code for a specific MINI
