Just bought a 2007 Justa

MINI newbie here and doesn't know anything about cars except that bonnet=hood and boot=trunk ... and I just picked up the "Justa' thing recently, in case you wonder. I used to have brand new yaris and rav4 and didn't worry about anything except had them serviced as per schedule.

Now I bought a 2007 mini cooper chilli pack with 73000 km off its life. It was advertised by the MINI dealership as "R50 CVT". But based on my research, it seems like it's an R56 regular automatic. And it sounds like a regular auto listening how it accelerates. The sales guy didn't seem to know a lot, and this buyer didn't asked more than just the basic questions. Mini is an emotional car. You just give in to it

What I need to know from the experts in this community is a confirmation that it's really a regular automatic and not a CVT. Following data is based on BMW VIN Decoder site--
Vehicle code: MF32
Series: R56
Production date: 2007/07
Engine: N12

Can anyone shed some light? Thanks.

Well, the photo you posted is of a turbo-charged engine, which means you would have a Cooper S, not a "Justa." A Justa' Mini would be a normally aspirated model. That photo also appears to be of an engine from a 2011 or later Cooper S.

Having never seriously looked at the automatic models, I can't confirm that they are not CVT.

Your pic is not an '07. Your stated specs are a straight cooper... a Justa.
If you have an '07 and not a convertible is should not be a CVT.

Use this thread with your VIN to check into what your car has. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...r-car-has.html

Sorry, I used a stock photo with an engine that looks very similar. (I thought I can get away with it from the expert eyes )

I updated my post above with the actual photo of the engine.

So my question is -- is it a regular AT or a CVT? Again, I apologize for my ignorance.

Thanks!

Difficult to tell by only looking at a photo of an engine. It's definitely not a Cooper S, but that engine could be attached to an auto, manual, or variable trans. What does the res of your car look like? Post a picture of your whole car, and one of your gear selector/shifter.
