My first post. Hi everyone.

I just stopped in today at a Mini dealer. I thought my hear was set on a JCW Coupe, The salesman kinda downplayed the JCW. He tells me that the coupe S is plenty car, and that the JCW was not worth the extra money.

Now I don't know. I like the white/silver with red stripes/roof/mirrors. The Coupe S is not available in this color........


Salesmen also said the JCW is a much harsher suspension , not good for a daily driver.

 

Let me guess...he did not have any JCW on the lot right? But he had PLENTY of S right? Sounds like he just wants to sell what he currently has and not go thru ordering one for you.

GET EXACTLY what you want!! Don't allow him to talk you out of what you want. It's your hard earned money you are spending, not his. In the end do what makes you happy!!

 

Welcome to NAM, sbninja. To be perfectly honest with you, some of the information presented by your MA is painfully true, but perhaps not presented in the best light. The Cooper S is the sweet spot in the line up. You get an adequate amount of power without breaking the bank. When considering my Cooper S Roadster, the JCW would have cost over $4500 more for a touch more horsepower. Sure, you noticed a bit more when test driving the JCW against the Cooper S but I just couldn't justify the extra cost. The suspension is a bit more harsh when the sport suspension is an option, so if you are using the vehicle as a daily driver in city street conditions, you might end up buying yourself a donut for relief.

You're correct, the White Silver in combination with the red stripes, roof and mirrors is only available on the JCW version. Lots to think about.

 

I test drove a Roadster S and JCW. The suspension and clutch were both stiffer on the JCW. My MA did not recommend the JCW for the extra $$$$ and I have to concur with his opinion. With the S model, you can get JCW exterior and/or interior packages if you want to dress up your Coupe. I'm not a racer, so the S model works great for me.

 

You will end up loving whatever you MINI buy. Get what you can afford/justify.

The dealer did in fact have 2 JCW coupes in stock. I decided to stop in at another dealer this afternoon(only 3 on long island). I test drove another coupe S , and a JCW Hardtop.

After discussing it with the wife(of course), I think I have decided on the Coupe S.

It's a white/silver with black top and stripes - Automatic.

 

You will thoroughly enjoy the Cooper S, don't worry.
