2013 coupe vs 2014 coupe
2013 coupe vs 2014 coupe
I will be purchasing a Mini Coupe soon!!! Trying to decide between 2013 and 2014. I hear there will be changes made. Does any one know what the changes will be?
Also can you tell me what options you recommend? What options can you not live without and on which should I pass?
Thanks! Looking forward to joining the Mini Club!

If you mean the Mini Coupe, the style isn't changing considerably for 2014 over the 2013 model. Packages and some custom options might shift, but not largely.
A lot of dealers have sold out of their 2013 car allocation, so you might be ordering a 2014 of whatever model you're looking for.
The Mini Cooper hardtop will have bigger changes with the new 2014 models coming to US shores in early 2014 probably.

Not much change, a few things only.
As far as options, definitely the HK sound system. We have a very basic Cooper Coupe, and opted for 16" wheels (better ride than 17's) If you get a non-S Coupe, then don't be afraid to drive it at higher RPMs. If you opt for a turbo Coupe, watch your oil level and keep it fresh.
Most people get more options, it's all in what matters most to YOU.

Yeah, only small changes have been reported/rumored: a couple of new colors, a couple colors going away, options packages getting shuffled up.
As for how I value the options...
HK Stereo: It's not perfect, but it's both better than the standard and gives you a better platform for improvements later, if that's your thing.
Bi-Xenon headlamps: Man shall not live by halogens alone.
MINi Connected: The apps are nearly useless if you have an iphone, totally useless if you don't but getting connected is the only way to stream audio over bluetooth, and I think having album artwork on the screen is pretty nifty.
Auto-dimming rear and sideview mirrors: More awesome than words.
Auto-Climate: The stock rollers are made, I think, of the wheels off of a child's toy. A poorly made toy.
And now, for probably the most controversial/unpopular opinion...
The MINI Yours or JCW leather dash: This makes a HUGE difference in the sense of quality to the MINI's interior. No one buys them, but they're great.
