"Going in Red Leader"
"Going in Red Leader"
Hello All--
I will soon embark on my journey to various dealerships and or private owners, seeking out a MCS in either the 2011 or 2012 vintage....a lower mileage (18-28k) mini.
With this day and age of internet offers on CL and other listings from dealerships, it's a bit of a difference to shop for a car. I say this as the several candidates I have found range from 15 minutes away to almost 1.5hrs drive away.
Does anybody have a strategy to get down to brass tacks for a price? Is there an existing standard of say....automatically subtracting 1k off their asking price? I want to be efficient as possible, but this may just be a task that will require patience.....hmmmm
I want to go in well armed. I've done my homework on the minis themselves in terms of their options and such. The asking price range is 19.9 to 22.9. I've gotten an email quote for one and since it has dropped 1k already (2weeks).
Any opinions are requested and welcomed....thanks in advance

Nice Star Wars reference. One of the best pieces of advice I had is to go in with some other dealers' ads printed out. If your price demands aren't satisfied, say you're leaving to go check out the other car (because it has feature X, and the car you have in front of you doesn't, or it's cheaper, or whatever). If you're a serious buyer, a salesperson will hate to let you leave, and they might come down.
