Welcome. This is a good place to find answers to questions about modding or problem-solving. It's a little harder to connect with locals here than it is on a Facebook group (at least that's been my experience). I live in Wakefield and by the time I see a thread about a local event I've usually missed it. :-)

Anyway, hope to see you on the roads! I drive 128->2A->62->117 in the mornings and reverse of that going home. Post pics when you can and if I see you on the road, I'll be waving.

On a side note I have a check engine light on (half yellow engine sign in the middle of the odometer). On the speedometer (center of dashboard, I have no icon light on).

I tried to pull up any code, and provided I did it right there is no code stored (empty screen with P on the left).

What should I do? The car has 45k miles and the 4 years manufacturer warranty expired yesterday.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thank you!

Hmm. Never a good thing to have the light on without knowing what it is. If you live near Worcester (or even if you don't) I highly recommend Greasy's Garage. I live in Wakefield and they're an hour away but I go there anyway. They specialize in MINI repairs and are much more affordable than dealerships. I love the guys at MINI of Peabody and recommend them if you're closer to the north shore and don't mind the dealership premium (which also comes backed by MINI corporate).

If you're more of a DIY person, there are diagnostic tools you can buy that plug into your ODBII port, but I've never used one so I can't really recommend one from personal experience.

Good looking car. I was going to get Chili Red at one point. Any plans to add stripes, wheels or performance mods? (not that you need to or anything)

P.S
You MIGHT want to check with the dealer that sold it to you first if was VERY recent...possible they can look into it for free if under their USED CAR warrenty.

Thank you for those quick replies!

I went to autozone and had them check the OBDII for any code. Result: none!
The car is behaving as it should without any lost of power. I also check the gas tank cap to make sure it was fully closed.

Shouldn't that car have stripes in the back too since it has them in the front?

First mod I'm thinking is getting ride of that check engine light. LOL! Just kidding! I think paint black/replace all the chrome (too flashy and out of sync in my opinion). Black wheels with red lips may be?

Yeah, that's what I'm going to do today. I already sent them an email regarding it.

Welcome to Cooperland!

And +2 on Greasy's...

Good luck with your unfortunate initial problem with the car... Get it straightened out and enjoy it, that's what they're for after all...

While driving home tonight, the check engine disappeared all the sudden. Now what do I do?

1- Is it gone for good?
2- Should I still bring it to the dealer? And say what?
3- Keeping in mine that I had no stored codes while the check engine was on and still don't have any after the light disappeared, should I assume that the OBDII just reset itself?

Any input will be great!

Thanks!

Update

Just an update.

05/08 Dropped car at dealership. Car was there for a week.

05/16 Picked up the car from dealership. No check engine light but noticeable tickling noise from engine.

05/17 Check engine light back on.

05/22 Dropped the car at the dealership for the second time. Been there since then. Will call them tomorrow to see what's going on. Been driving a loaner car.

I bought the car on 04/29 (35 days ago). The car has spent 20 days out of those 35 days being repaired. We'll see.

Sounds like you may have one of these stuck in your engine bay:

Ouch....
you would think a dealer that also owns a mini franchise would have SOME level of competence in finding the issue....
I would be making lots of phone calls....

Zip -- I think you're mistaking Herb Connolly for Herb Chambers. Still, a phone call would certainly seem to be in order.

I called the dealer's service center today and I was told they had to go pick up the car from the mini dealer they had sent it to. They told me to come pick up the car around 4pm which is in less than an hour. I asked what the problem was and was told a turbo hose was leaking and they fixed it. Hope all is good!

Well, we'll see!
