New To Me

Hi all,

I just purchased my first MINI. It's a 2009 S, AT, pepper white with black top and mirrors. Really fun car and I'm excited to learn more about it on this forum!

This will be my second British car. I also have a '98 Land Rover Discovery. I do almost all repairs on it myself, and expect to do the same thing with my MINI when the extended warranty expires.

The first things I need to do is find floor mats, an antenna, and a sunshade for the windshield. Any recommendations would be appreciated

Oh, also need to figure out why it doesn't recognize my iPod or iPad when plugged into the USB *grrr*

Oh, i have a question: Is my boot supposed to open when holding the button on the remote? It unlocks, and makes a second click when continuing to hold the button, but doesn't actually release. From what I've been reading, I expected it to open.

Welcome aboard....nice color combo.

If I recall (don't have the care with me today) just pressing the boot button should release it so you can just lift (don't have to push the handle) it.

Thank you, Meboko. For some reason I was expecting to be able to make it pop open without having to touch it.

Another question: The USB port next to my AUX input doesn't appear to work. I tried it with a 4GB flash drive, FAT32 formatted. Anything I can do to fix it?

Ooh, another question! Is there a way to find out build options / packages / specs of my Cooper as originally delivered? I'm completely in love with my Cooper and want to learn everything I can about him :D

My ipod did not work when I plugged it into the USB. BMW makes a special cord that you need that splits the output of your device so that the date goes through the USB but the sound goes through the input. They will sell you one but you can pick up a cheaper one on amazon.

Thank you, Tiny, but it also does not work with a flash drive. It should be able to read MP3s directly from a flash drive, shouldn't it?

For the VIN you can try here too https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...vindecoder.php The Ipod cable can be found on Ebay. Just shop the prices and get it from a reputable seller or contact one of the vendors on NAM https://www.northamericanmotoring.co..._directory.php

I've posted in the "find your options" but don't believe it's still active :( I did use the VIN decoder, but it gave generic information based on year and model, nothing specific to my VIN. Looks like I'll need to figure this out on my own.

I know it has Bluetooth and 16" wheels (but not the name of the wheels). I don't believe it has an alarm, as nothing blinks when it's locked. I don't see any switches for seat heaters, so that also means no heated mirrors? Also no switch for folding mirrors. Single CD stereo, but how do I know if it's HD? How do I check for LSD, zenons, or any other options?

Post some pics of the fron of the MINI and the interior center console and door panels.
That will help us to identify what you have.
