Back in a Mini

Hello all,
I just picked up a new to me 2008 MCS. I look forward to getting it on the road and probably tinkering with it sometime down the line.

We got my wife one back in 2002-3 after a long wait on the waiting list since they were pretty hot back then. We had a terrible experience with that one (it was a lemon) and we got rid of it 2 years later. So for the last 8 years the wife has been telling me how much she missed her mini (she loved it, besides it's faults.) We even got approved a few years ago for an E-Mini but after reading the lease terms we backed out. So long story short, I just replaced my gas guzzler with this new one for commuting.

Our 1st one was supercharged but I opted for a turbo one this time since I think I can do more tinkering with a turbo than the SC models.. and newer is better right?

I don't know where I will start but so far I think I need some sort of short shifter and the stock wheels and run flats have to go. Maybe after some time I will see about upping the boost and seeing what hidden potential this thing has but for now I like to keep my cars stock and hide the flashy bits.

I look forward to meeting you all and picking your brains of ideas!

Sure I'll get some photos up once I get her all tarted up!

So I've been poking around and it seems this N14 engine is prone to carbon build up... is this true? So should I drive it like I stole it to keep it from building up? That's been my solution on my 911 and right or wrong I'm sticking to that theory!

Any other "keep an eye on" things I should be aware of?

Great board so far guys, I'm learning a ton and seeing the potential wallet drain all new toys bring with them!
