Dreamin' & scheming....

Hello to all here on one of the neatest boards I have discovered on the net. I am researching the leasing of a CM All4 with the automatic. I am looking for a daily driver with enough room for my scuba gear. Having retired once, I make the trip from Ohio to Florida to dive at least 3 times yearly. Usually will involve 2 souls and our gear, straight thru drive. So, economical, reliable ride, big enough for me at 5'9", 280 and FUN to drive are key points. I am coming from a Ford F 350 dually 4 door cab, so trying to adapt. Any tips about leasing, options and great dives on the east coast of Florida and The Keys are welcomed!

I tried to lease a Countryman S All 4 after my test drive, the numbers didn't work out. Its the only vehicle I have ever ran numbers on that a lease wasn't a considerable savings. Cant remember what the reasoning was from my dealer. I ended up ordering one.

Having never leased a car, what do I need to look for? I had always assumed that leasing was for someone who had a business which enabled them to write off the lease as a business expense. The more I see of what it costs to repair Minis, and any other new car with all the electronics, the more I'm thinking a lease is more sensible for me. Retired, driving less than 12,000 miles per year and figuring on always having a car payment.

Writing it off as a business expense has less to do with lease vs. buy and more to do with how you justify it being a business expense. Buying is probably cheaper these days with loans being so cheap(my credit union had a 0% match otherwise 0.9%) so for many it won't make sense to lease. An option you should look at if you made up your mind on leasing is to approach your bank/credit union to buy the vehicle and you lease through them(usually better rates). If you're concerned with repairs, get extended warranties.

Thank you so much with the favor of a reply. Looking at a Cosmic Blue CM All4 at a dealer. Thinking there has to be some substantial discounts on a 2012....
