Very stoked first time Mini owner! (09' JCW)
Hello All!
Just wanted to post and say hi, I recently (today) purchased a red 2009 John Cooper Works Mini and am very excited to start driving it! Its got 19k miles with a bunch of options, and its performance is head over heels what I was looking for. I'm a gear head at heart and an engineer by trade, and this car just called to me. I was debating between a 328xi (lots of snow here in Iowa) and an IS 250 when I accidentally came across this one and decided to take it for a test drive for the heck of it.
When I first hit the gas I was very disappointing, it just didn't have the oomph was looking for. Afterwards I put it up on a lift and found the problem--the turbocharger's boost controller (or at least i think) was unplugged! Plugged it back in and hopped back on the road and WHAM---it put me in the back of my seat.
All in all--it seems like I'm going to be very happy with my purchase. It has plenty of nifty options and has a very nice balance of mileage, versatility, and performance. Coming from a 1995 383ci Formula Firebird I still have that feeling of owning the road!
I do have a few questions if anyone could point me in the right direction:
--I am looking for some smoke screen-like taillight covers for it. I love the red color and I love accenting red cars with black.
--On the same point of accents, has anyone has success with powder coating or painting their rims? I have the 17 inch JCW rims, and I'd love to have them be matte black.
--I'm also in the market for some winter tires (run flats or not, either way)--anyone know where I could find a good source of tires?
Thanks and glad to be here!!
