And this morning it's stopped in for a pint in Southampton... it should be heading out of there today and finally starting to cross the ocean. Still has a stop in Canada tho!

I hope they arrive here sober, we don't want drunk MINIs, do we now? :-)

Actually, it looks like August was a crazy month for storms and all the people who had ships out seemed to get their cars as expected, so hopefully we'll be okay.

One thing I've noticed is that all the boat tracking sites I've seen seem to only show a boat when it's close to land. As such, once a boat starts crossing the Atlantic it goes 'off the radar' for about a week. I haven't found anything that seems to show boats far away from land - although I haven't had to yet. I guess I'll probably do a little more looking tomorrow when I should be in that situation.

Ordering CM 2012 vs waiing for 2013

If I was ordering a new CM today I would wait for the 2013 s these switch chnages will make your car easier to use...

Check it the photo gallery at nectarshow.com of the 2013 countryman.

Changes:
Window switches moved to the doors
Lower bank of buttons on dash moved to former window switch locations
Cupholders larger and moved back for more room
Vent/gauge/speedo trim now much smaller, black, and less play school.

Who knows how long that wait would be though. The Countryman 2012s are still being produced, their supposed to not start making 2013s until after the initial Paceman and JCW runs, so it's probably likely you're talking about not having the car show up until January. None of the changes are anything super exciting to me - and from looking at the pictures, I'm not even sure if there were changes to the cupholders or the speedo surround (apart from it being a different color, which is likely a JCW thing).

I have already ordered the car, finished production and it has started its journey home, so there's nothing I can do about it now. Unless something happens... Besides, this car will be a birthday gift for my wife this October, and I know she'll have a blast driving it.

I have an unwritten rule when we ride our car: no eating/drinking inside, unless it's bottled water. So cup holders are not an issue for us.

The interior design/window switches make this car different from the rest, that's what makes it a MINI. :-)

So, iPhone 5 is here. It's longer than the 4s and has a different connector. I'm not sure if it will fit the iPhone cradle that comes with the Countryman.

Just chillin' and nothing else to do, tracking the Topeka across Skagerrak on its way to Belgium. My wife's saying I'm nuts.

Track it while you can! Once it leaves the UK it'll be off the radar until it gets to Canada.

It showed up for a second off the coast of Newfoundland the day before it got to the Halifax area. When it got to Halifax it spent a day out at sea waiting for the slip to open up.

It didn't track much between Halifax and NYC either. A little blip near Nantucket before it got to Long Island were it was constant tracking.

I'll keep that in mind. I have a couple of days to check and "go nuts". :-)

Just checked MarineTraffic.com and Topeka is out of range. It's supposed to be on its way to Belgium and should be arriving there tomorrow. Where could it be?

Boats only show up if they're near land. Since it was headed from Sweden to Belgium it's out in the middle of the North Sea. It'll show up when it's closer to port.

Thanks qrysdonnell, but there are ships located in the middle of the North Sea. I guess I just have to wait.
