Love at First Sight

Hi folks,
What a joy to find a friendly site of fellow Mini obsessives! After years of looking at Minis, there is finally one in my driveway! I live in Vermont, snow on the ground 6 months of the year and us woodchucks are always hauling something around in our vehicles. I have a big truck for that and have been looking for a Mini for about 5 years. Very few used ones for sale up here, it's been a challenge for my patience! One showed up on a lot, took it for a ride and then drove it home. It's a 2002, loads of miles (173k), runs fantastic, looks amazing! Now time to find places to get parts and fun things. Why do Minis beg for customization? !!
Thank you in advance for your helpfulness. Here's a photo of her!

New baby girl

Hello and welcome to MINI, and now the obsession begins.
What is your baby girls name, don't forget to post pictures of your baby.
You can do this to the left under My Gallery, you can also create a signature like the one below, to do this go the the left under Sig-o-Matic.
There a lot of help full people on here, they will be able to answer most any question for you.
There are several sites to get MINI goodies from, like MINI mania, Out motoring, just to name a couple. There are alot of venders on here also.
You will discover you can do sooooo many things to your MINI your going to love it.
Again and now the obsession begins.
MINI's are the most fun you will ever have in a car legally that is.
There are also repair /tinkering manuals that you can work on her during those 6 months of snow, by the way if the roads are plowed then MINI's can be very good in the snow, with the correct tires.
I wish you many miles of smiles, enjoy your new baby. Hope to see those pictures soon.

Thanks folks! So great to find a site where people are helpful, fueled by a common passion/obsession! Wish the internet was around when i had a 1970 MGB GT hardtop-didn't drive it unless a mechanic was in the car with me!

I'm still waiting for her to tell me her name. Going to take her on a twisty road over the Green Mountains today. Yesterday found out her acceleration is wicked while passing farm vehicles on back roads.

Am I sounding obsessed yet?

Squonkvt, my older brother had the 1970 MGB GT that he simply adpred. At about two years of age the darn car caught fire while he was driving! He was safe, yet heartbroken!

Took her out for a 100 mi drive on the windy roads of Vermont. Got lost, got found. It was quite a wild ride! Noticed some rattling noises and gave her a good rubdown and found that the black plastic trim all around has only about 2 screws holding it all together! There's my chore for tomorrow-getting her tightened up! Man, love this car!

Great pix. If your MINI still is shod with run-flat tires, changing them out for performance tires would be your biggest bang for the buck modification. If you can swing lighter wheels at the same time, you will feel a very big difference in the car and you could use your current wheels for a set of dedicated snow tires to get you through those Vermont winters.

There are two different types of tires on the car right now. Doubt they're the run-flats! Do you have a recommendation for a type of tire? There's some decent tread left, so not yet ready to get new tires. Took her in for an alignment and oil change today-the garages around here must be hurting for business (or they might be thinking this car is a moneypit) because they were all asking for business. Or maybe we're just spreading sunshine and happiness everywhere we go!

Thanks to all for the enthusiastic welcome!

Can you let us know specifically what tires they are, and what size, too.

Thanks-honestly words don't honestly convey the insane level of enthusiasm! Y'all are so wonderful it's easy to be stoked. And vV, I'll have to look in the morning- I think it's Goodyear int the front and coopers on the rear. Something 15". Sorry for the ballpark- its only been a few days and still getting acquainted!

Means the previous owner didn't regularly rotate the tires. Fronts wore out before the rears so he/she replaced 2 tires..

Or were you asking what the tire size means?

I would suggest mounting a set of snow tires on these wheels once the current tires are worn out, and moving up to a 16 inch wheel for your nice weather driving. You can also move up a size or two on the tires to 195 or 205 once you get your lighter (hopefully) 16 inch wheels. Check out my gallery for an idea of what a set of OZ's would look like in that size on your Justa...

Big day for the little lass. Got a vinyl wrap for the roof. Took her to a MINI mechanic and found out what was making noise during steering, universal joint. New tires coming. The roof came out awesome!
