2013 Mini

Hey everyone I just joined this forum. I have been looking to purchase a new vehicle . I just can't decide I have been wanting a new Subaru wrx but wifey is not liking that idea . Since I already own a 93 mustang cobra. Anyways she suggested the Mini cooper just a base model should I go for it and order a2013 model . I'd like your opinions .

I am really starting to like the cabrio version of the mini. Would the base model or the s version make a big difference between the 2?

Welcome! Some feedback for you...

1) Your wife is right!

2) Lots of body styles, trim levels, and options to choose from. The "S" will give you more noticeable power, which may be of interest to a Cobra owner. Best to test drive both and judge for yourself.

Good luck as you do your homework, exploring the world of MINI is a great experience!

You need to go for a test drive.
Drive both the S and the base model.
Judging from what you've shared about your history with cars, you are going to like the S.

I have had both. With the car set up right there is not much difference in the curves. The big diff is in straight line acceleration. I like the non s myself. With all I have read and researched the data points to the Cooper having a more reliable engine. The turbo is stronger and faster but more needy. As stated before drive both with the Cabrio body and then decide if it is worth the extra cash. My $.02 worth.

My big factor is reliability . The cool factor would be the rag top . I already have a speed machine just looking for something to enjoy the ride.

I haven't seen any data but the anecdotal evidence suggests that the justa is more reliable than the turbo, at least in the N14 engines. I don't know if the new N18 S engines will prove to be more reliable.
It seems that the justa would naturally be more reliable as it has fewer complex parts to go wrong. The justa is less expensive and gets more MPG too.
The justa had a lot going for it.
