Bought First Mini 2007

Hello Everyone,
My name is Nick and I currently bought my first Mini which is a 2007 Mini Cooper S with 55000 miles on it. (No idea what generation or the R56 info is but hopefully I will learn after having the car for a while.) It is a Blue with a White top and full tan leather on the inside. Probably the most beautiful all around car I have ever seen. I really fell in love with the car and as a first response I was looking to find out what sort of maintenance I should be doing. I have found a few threads on this but about Oil changes? How frequent? When to get a normal checkup all around on the car? When to change the timing Belt etc. As I stated before I am a new person to the Mini car and have had it for 3 days now. I plan to keep this car it's life through and buy another probably after that. I would like ant responses to this I can receive and any other helpful information anyone has in Care of the vehicle to have it the longest length of it's life.
Thank you for your time,
Nick 2007 Mini Cooper S

first and foremost welcome... the best way to keep her alive is keep up with the oil levels and keep her maintained, you will probably want to change your oil every 5-6k. get you vin ready to take to a mini dealership or call them with the vin to find out if all the TSB's have been taken care of.

You will learn lots by reading and interacting here on NAM. Congratulations on your purchase. I have had my '07 S since it arrived almost 5 years ago. Still seems like a new car to me. I love driving it.

Watch the oil and coolant level, they can be killers if they get low. If you are going to maintain it yourself, buy a Bentley's manual for the Gen 2 MINIs. Listen to the service reminders, except for the oil change interval. The reccomended interval is 15K. I believe that is way to long. (5K is what I do, but no longer than 7.5K)

Good advice regarding checking with a dealership to see if all the recalls and TSBs have been done on your car.

You've got a 2nd gen R56.
Change oil/filter between 5-7K miles.
Have the dealership (Mini) pull up the warranty and work record to determine what all has been done to it.
Examples:
Timing chain issue addressed or fixed.
Leaking thermostat.
These are probably the two most prevalent issues with the 2nd gen's.
Flush brake fluid every 2 years and flush coolant every 4 years.
Check oil weekly especially if you run it hard.
Enjoy it.

Still trying to get the pics up. I have 3 here on my comp of the car and interior but I go to add them and says something about I dont have the authority. Maybe I am going to the wrong spot to put them up. But thank you to everyone with the replies and welcomes. I appreciate the time and considerations.
Nick
