Hello to everyone.

Great forum. I've been reading quite a bit for the past few days, since I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 Mini Cooper. No pictures yet as I have to finish with the detailing process, (my hobby and passion).

I've read about a lot of timing chain issues that usually manifest by a rattling noise during a cold start. Since I'm not familiar with a "normal" sound of a Cooper or a Cooper S, I would like to ask if the regular coopers are also "sensitive" with this timing chain/tensioner issue.

In my ears there is some noise that does not sound like a regular noise but it might as well be something very normal for these engines.

Any thoughts will be very much appreciated.

I believe that the motor code of my car is N16... Is that correct ?

Also if anyone knows of a good repair/service shop in the Lower Mainland or Vancouver area I would be very interested.

Welcome! I also am the proud new owner of a 2007 Pepper White. Congrats. I am not sure on the timing chain issues. Will it go bad on all 2007's? If anyone else has any additional info on this issue, I'd like to know as well.

 

Welcome to NAM. I have an 07 also with about 40k on it now. No timing chain problems. No noise!
