Welcome!! Quite a few of us are in your general area. Make sure you post some pictures when you get your car.

Check out NEMINI.org for our regional MINI Club/Forum for events and rallies.

I'm this ->| |<- close to picking up an 09 MCS in BRG. Reading this forum is scaring the crap out of me even though I know people don't come to online forums to say "Hey my car runs like I expect it to."

On a side topic, is it just me or does Jeremy Clarkson wish he were an American?

People b*tch and moan all the time, regardless of the car. You have to keep in mine the type of car you are purchasing. It is technically a sports car. If you want a car that you can get to 200,000 miles without doing crap to it, then get a boring chevy van or something.

Just go for it, the people who complain on here are a small percentage compared to those who truly love their cars. Of course you will have things to do on the car for regular maintenance but if you keep the car running well, it will treat you well (and your wallet).

I've got that 200,000 mile car right now and I'm tired of it. It's a 2001 Toyota solara. 202000 miles and still kicking (mind you it needs the belts replaced, a new o2 sensor, both rear calipers, and the egr valve) and in the 7 years and 130000 miles or so that I've owned it it's never been in shop. I'm not quite a shade-tree mechanic, but I can change fluids, brakes, and on one occasion a drive shaft. As long as the engine doesn't grenade I'm not too worried about it. Just waiting for my tax refund so I can put a bit more down.
