I ordered a 2012 Chili Red MCS on Aug 30th and have been tracking its progress via 1-866-ASK-MINI ever since. As of this morning, status was reported as ~"released to carrier ready for transportation to port of departure." Great stuff!! Except..... as of this afternoon status is back to "scheduled for production with no date.." What!!!!!!!!!! Has my car been abducted by aliens, destroyed by a falling meteorite, or met some other unseemly premature end? Why else would I be back at the beginning of the production process? Has anybody had this happen before!! Dave

 

Have you talked to your MA lately? He or she should be able to set the record straight as to whether or not your MINI has not been produced yet. Have you talked to a "live" person @ AskMINI?? You used to be able to, they will know more if your MINI is anywhere near South Hampton...Good Luck!!

 

Thanks for your encouragement I think all is well! Both AskMINI and Owner's Lounge now report "... awaiting transportation..." though AskMINI did briefly report going through the paint shop again!!!!! I think the moral of the story is that MINI's informations systems are a little flaky. Perhaps they do it deliberately for a little fun. I get the joke!!

Anyway, next WW ship for Port Whiny Me looks like Asian King. Departs Sep 27th. Better sell some cars and make some space for Nigel.

If no one has told you yet...IT IS TOTALLY WORTH THE WAIT!!
