New 2012 owner
Just bought a 2012 Hardtop. It was the only one the dealership has gotten in. It happened to be almost exactly what I was looking for and they worked with me on the price and trade-in. It had 5 miles on it when I got in. Have been having a ball since driving it.
I came from driving a Jeep and then a Ford F-150, so this world is quite different, but I am liking it.

My dealer said the same thing about being one of the firsts.
I sold my Jeep (a vehicle I always wanted but found impractical for my profession (photographer) since I couldn't lock up my gear. So I was used to a taller vehicle. Thought a truck would be best as I could also shoot photos from the back bed and get some height. Seeing as the small trucks were the same mileage and cost as an F-150, I went that route. After a year and a half I realized I had less room to carry gear inside (only had regular cab), rarely shot from the bed, and was getting 19 mpg highway.
So, I decided to look for a smaller vehicle and even considered some hybrids at first. But they were all so ugly and not very well done inside. I ran across the MINI Cooper on a website listing the best mileage cars and recalled how much I liked the looks of them. A little research on their website showed me the Clubman. I was intrigued and went to a dealership to look at them. My wife and I agreed that the Clubman was not right for us. The things I thought I would like, I actually did not like. The barn door back just ended up being hard to see out of. The back suicide door was only on the passenger side and my wife HATED that. The extra length just made it look like a station wagon to us. I'm sure a lot of people love their Clubmans, but it was not the right car for us.
We also looked at the Countryman, and my wife still like that car and has mentioned that it would be a good match for her when her car is done. Maybe so. But we were amazed at home much room was inside the Hardtop and what we'd be able to fit. Plus it was just fun to drive.
Liking it a lot so far, but there are some things I wish were better. The bluetooth system is not as good as the Ford Sync. The phone part is great, but the lack of bluetooth audio is not great. I loved that in the truck. I have found that the Connected systme may offer that, although the dealer assured me it did not and still had to be plugged in. Hmmm. I think I just need to find a better cradle/dock/mount for my iphone that both holds the phone and plugs it into the car system.
Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks. Now just waiting for the dealership to get in the Sirius radio retrofit and bonnet stripes I got thrown in the deal.
Then it'll be all ready to photograph.

yours didn't have sirius installed either?? They said they can't install it because I have nav....I don't know what to do.
I have a 2012 MCS with (connected+)nav, and sirius. All 2012 MINIS are supposed to have sirius standard. I would say you need to ask them again.
We r supposed to have it on our 2012, but it's not working. Have yet to hear from MINI about a solution, but they say they will let us know...
Ours just came uninstalled and wondering what the install process is...
Great color combination! That's the same as the '12 Cooper hardtop my wife and I ordered. Ours is on a ship somewhere in the Atlantic right now.
Sirius antenna cable
I just got my 2012, 2 weeks ago.
It is supposidly Sirius satelite ready. Checking on other postings on this forum there are many posts that talk about the "sirius" ready versions as having the factory antenna end under the front passanger seat.
I figured great, I will just buy the needed extension cable and plug in my starmate. Well I have removed the passenger seat , and looked under the carpet and the styrafoam and there is no cable there on the 2012.
Anyone had any luck finding where the oem sirius antenna cable teminates on the 2012?

You shouldnt even need the starmate. ALL 2012 minis have sirius installed and you get a year of free service too. Talk to your dealer. I suggest you talk to your MA and get them lit up on it instead of service dept.
I believe that is a USA offered thing, Mini Canada just said Sirius ready
