Bought a 2006 mcs Friday

Hello,

I bought a mini sorta by accident. I was at the dealer looking at a Toyota Prius on Friday and on the way in we walked past a row of mini's, and now I have one.

I am very glad I choose this car instead of something else, and having found this site, I am even more excited. I can't wait to start modding it out.

My name is Jeremy, and I live in Henderson NV.

Thanks.

Congrats, by all accounts the 05/06 are the cream of the crop! You dodged a bullet on that Prius too. I nearly ended up with a Mustang and stumbled onto my R50. Close call.

Glad I bought the right one. I bought an Audi years ago that was the half year model, and it had nothing but troubles.

I have a question, I live in the desert and the car came with those Kumho run flats; Does any one keep a spare? There are a lot of places here that are more than 50 miles from a shop.

Naw....just slow down....maybe add some air from a compressor....maybe even tire slime or a plug....
50 miles is at high speed, max loading....
Most folks have ditched runflats, and use regular tires, a plug kit, a 12v pump, and AAA.
most folks like the handling, sound, and replacement costs better.
And congrats again on the new car! !
it is possible to get a compact spare....but it will only fit on the rear on an s I think...
you could get a different rim (right offset) and keep it in the trunk....a 15 stored mostly flat will fit better....then inflate if needed. A 15 will fit on a mini unless jcw or bbk kit is installed....then rear only....

Congrats! Like some others have probably mentioned - the '06 is the best year of the R53. If for whatever reason my '04 got totaled and/or needed replacement, the first car I'd look for is a '06 R53.

As for the spare tire question - I'm in Alaska where shops can also be very far and few between, especially on road trips. Add crappy roads - some of which aren't paved, to the equation. I keep a compressor and some tire slime in the vehicle at all times. On longer road trips, I'll even bring along one of my winter tires (15" wheel) as a spare. I've read that some others on the forum have picked up donut spares from the regular Cooper models or certain Hondas (Civics?).

I'm going to ditch my runflats as soon as I can afford to. I drove a MINI equipped with a good set of non-runflats and I couldn't believe how much better the ride AND handling were, as well as how much quieter the tires were. From there on out, I've been sold on the idea of getting rid of my runflats.

Welcome to the madness and enjoy your R53!

Whew, you just dodged that Prius bullet... Coulda been ugly!

Just think the shame of actually being seen driving one and everyone assuming you're one of the believers that actually think they're saving the planet!

Anyway, welcome!

This is my Mini. Can someone with more knowledge than me identify the color? There are so many blues I am not sure if I have the correct blue in my sig.

Thanks.

That's one of my favorite colors. Space Blue.

Actually, that may be Purple Haze.

You can confirm by popping the bonnet and looking at the label near the strut tower (passenger side if memory serves).

What will this label say?

Edit: Per label, Space Blue Metallic.

The label should say what color it is, and maybe even a color code.

Congrats on your space blue MCS! I love that color...if I had to buy another R53, that would be the color I'd go for!

I love the color. The hood stripe and silver roof/mirrors make me think that might be a Checkmate car, but it doesn't have the checkerboard on the A panel. No matter, it's still a looker!

I looked up the check mate cars, and it is identical except for the lack of the checkerboard. What does the checkmate package include? I called the dealer yesterday and they said I have sport suspension, sport steering wheel, dsc, xeons (spelling) and my car was made in 10/06.

Other models had the U bonnet strip that were not checkmate. The side scuttles are not correct for a Checkmate model, you would also see on the door sills "Checkmate" too.

At any rate, that is a good looking ride! The wheels actually compliment it unlike many other color combinations.
