New here 2003 Mini S

Hi all,
I just got my first Mini Cooper. I really enjoy it. It is a yellow 2003 S with a black top and pretty much loaded. I first started test driving these about 2 months ago and got this one a few weeks ago. I got it in Lynnwood Washington and about a week after I got it, I went back to the dealer and found that they had been taken over by the bank. It was not an exclusive Mini dealer. In all my car buying years I have never experienced that before.

I look forward to many happy years of Mini ownership!

Hello, and welcome to the Mini family! What accessories do you have installed in your MCS?

Awesome! I just bought a 2004 MC, wish it was a sport but I absolutely love it anyway. I'm a BMW guy so driving a car made by a division of BMW makes me feel right at home.

Thanks!!! I have not installed anything aftermarket yet. I am taking it in next week to have it checked out to see if there is anything that I can't see that is installed. I am planning on putting an under-drive pulley on it pretty soon and am looking at a few other things.

I am happy to be "in the family"!

Awesome! I was first looking at a 2006 MC but I really like the sport. I hope it turns out to be a good buying decision. I know that I really enjoy driving it!

Anramasu,
Welcome to NAM...I have only been a member for a few months and love it..They also started a great DIY subscription. I just purchased an 2011 S and really like it, it has to be the funnest car to drive. I also just purchased a Forge BOV kit from Way Motor Works..When you are ready to start w/some mods I highly recommend Way Motor Works....

Well, I just got the bill to fix my car... Turned out it was close to 2000! I have not had the car for more than a month. I am thinking that I probably should have looked around a bit more. I still enjoy it but man that's expensive...to me anyway.

It needs a belt and tensioner 390.00, Cabin and air filters 65, brakes flushed 70, oil pan gasket with oil change 525, valve cover gasket 206, Power steering hose 210, O2 sensor 340, and about 225 to fix the headlights! That's all :D Oops I added wrong...it is just over 2600! but I do still really enjoy the car and it is not all going to get done at once.

Didn't you have a mechanic inspect the car before you bought it?

I did and the dealer replaced a couple of items like one of the computers and a window motor and had it aligned. I knew that the oil pan gasket needed to be addressed but not all of the other stuff.

oh my... that was a lot of money. Sounds like rather then look longer for a Mini, you should have looked longer for a mechanic. Ouch. Really? It really needed all of that stuff?

Since they've closed up shop, you don't have any recourse at this point. I guess that could happen to any dealership at any time. Chalk it up to some bad beginner's luck. Now that you've had all that work done, go out and enjoy the car! I hope you have many years of happy, trouble-free motoring ahead of you.

Well I can't get all of the work done right now but I am getting some of it done and will have to wait for some of the other stuff. Oh well, that's ok I will still enjoy the car and will have it for a LONG time!

Agree completely. I feel like I have found a shop that I can trust to take good care of my car.
