Stopping in for an introduction
Hey guys, stopping in here for an brief introduction.
Just picked up the R50 in my signature, 3000 miles clocked on it already for a grand total of 95K.
Power steering fluid was burned and orange when I picked it up, cooling fan was inop for it. Front and rear brakes were worn out, control arm bushings, oil change needed badly, and a few other odds and end I've had to do to it already.
Other than the junk Continental tires I don't really have any gripes about the car. Seems like a pretty solid runner, averaging low 30's for MPG.

I've got a similar car, and have driven it roughly the same amount of miles since I registered it recently. I have your total beat by 29,000 miles, though. It's been a great commuter. While the low 30mpgs (I've been getting 32 with mixed driving) doesn't blow me away, the fun factor more than makes up for it.
Blackbomber, on the fuel economy note, have you replaced your oxygen sensors at all or do you know if they've ever been serviced? I was really hoping for mid 30's out of it if I could. Still better than the 18 MPG I get outta big red.
I don't know the history or condition of the O2 sensors. I do know that the car seems to have been very well maintained by it's original owner, other than the brake fluid, which looks to have not been changed since the car was out of warranty, or longer.
Coming from a VW TDI, I am feeling the hit in economy, but it's to be expected. Another thing is that the diesels seem to be far less affected by the speed and manner of driving, than gasoline vehicles. So with my TDI, I'm getting the EPA estimated (pre-revised, even) numbers, which is extremely difficult to see with most cars. It's my opinion that 32mpg is probably right on the money for the way I drive, and the fact that I live on a mountain (by CT standards).

I've had my R50 for about 2 months now. When I got mine it had horribly warped tires, which were replace immediately. Unfortunately these warped tires masked the sound of a bad transmission bearing which is currently being worked on in the shop. I've already replaced my power steering pump, added an AUX input, and changed out the filters. I've noticed for mixed driving I've been getting 29-32mpg. However I recently drove to SC to pick up new front seats (Oh yeah, I've replaced my broken ones. Forgot about that one.) and noticed 42mpg. I took a different route back to TN, through the dragon, and got 37mpg. When I get my car back from the shop I'm planning on resetting the ECU to see if that changes my mpg's any.
