Hi all.

Ordered a MINI Countryman on 5/31... told missed the 2011 window (my guess after reading posts in this forum is because we ordered an automatic and mini connected)... and told we have a week 30 production slot for a 2012.

Got a call from the dealer and was told that in order to keep the week 30 slot, we would have to upgrade to the MINI connected with Nav for an extra $750 because of the "restricted" availability of the mini connected (Japanese parts shortages)...

So I am kinda peeved that we might have to pay more because of any increase in price from 2011 to 2012 and $750 more for a Nav system. I traditionally dislike built in map systems because of the clunkiness and especially because of the difficulty (and EXPENSE!) in updating maps.

Anybody know how map updates are done for the Nav system? Do the US spec'd ones include European maps? How does this Google Maps send to car thing work? Specifically, how does it get loaded onto the car?

Sorry for the disgruntledness... supposed to be fun ordering a car the way you want it, but hasn't been anything but trouble...

 

I had the same thing happen to me. I upgraded because I couldn't stand the idea of waiting any longer.

 

Nobody is forcing you to do anything. Just say no, or yes... It's your decision.

 

I'd ask them to split the difference if they won't just eat the additional costs. I've seen other members get the upgrade at no additional cost. (Those were on 11's)
