New from Colorado

What's up guys, just got a 2011 PW Cooper S and I gotta say this car is amazing. I moved way up from driving an old 77 firebird and I gotta say this car handles like a dream.

Anyway, some questions for you guys.

1st, the smell of a new car is flat out amazing so do you guys know any company that best replicates the smell of a brand new MINI? I know there are those tree things that you hang from your mirror but they smell nothing like a new car.

2nd, will aftermarket intakes, exhausts, etc. void my warranty? I have bad luck with cars, so I wish not to modify it with the risk of voiding anything. The salesman said only JCW parts (expensive) will not screw anything up but I just wanna double check with those who know.

Thanks, sorry this was a long intro.

Welcome

Welcome. Thats a nice looking MCS.

Two words: LOVELAND PASS. Just do it!

Also definitely join up with the MINI5280 people. One of the best MINI clubs in the country. I have yet to find an equivalent since I left CO.

You should be able to take your pick of intakes without worry. If you are concerned about it though it would be best to run it past a service advisor. It would be pretty difficult to prove an intake caused any sort of engine problem other than maybe some issue with the MAF sensor.

Enjoy your MINI!

Welcome aboard Jared! I'm in Westminster, and a MINI5280 member...if you consider it, here's where you start for MINI5280:

http://www.mini5280.org/

Question 1: The only brand I know that replicates that new MINI smell is...MINI I've smelled quite a few "attempts" at the new car air fresheners....but none have really been that close.

Question 2: I think the only time an aftermarket part can void a warranty is if the dealership can prove that the addition of a particular aftermarket part contributed to a particular failure. More on that at:

http://autopedia.com/html/HotLinks_LemonMM2.html

I personally run quite a few "JCW" things on my 2010 MCS, but that's because I like the fit and feel, and the satisfaction of knowing it's "MINI". But it's all personal choice and preference.

Alright, thanks guys I'll have to check out Mini5280 sounds pretty good. Also, I'll try to search the forums for some intake guides.
