Hi I have an 05 mini with the dreaded cvt. 60,000 miles, no problems to date. I was wondering what would be the consiquences of using a fuel with an octane rating lower the 92 say an 89 or 87. Thanks for the time.

You might get some pinging; maybe fewer mpg. It can't hurt to try. Maybe try just a couple gallons to try it out.

Welcome to NAM!
Neat username.
You could probaly get buy with lower octane fuel but I would suggest adding a can of octane booster per tank.

60,000 trouble-free miles with a CVT? I wouldn't push my luck using 87 octane.

Seems like it would be cheaper to just use premium instead of a can of booster per tank.
