Automatic Electric Blue

Hello I am in love with the Electric Blue color!!! But, I don't want my first car to be a Manual. Does anyone know if that color was made in an Automatic??

Well...I doubt it, at least on the standard Coopers. Electric Blue is very uncommon on a standard Cooper. But if you did find a standard Cooper that was Electric Blue with an automatic, you really wouldn't want it because it was MINI's first effort at automatics and they used a terribly bad CVT transmission that had the habit of breaking early and often. Of course you could replace the transmission, but the cost often exceeds the actual value of the car.

Electric Blue was only offered on the first generation MINI, 2002 to 2006, and most of the cars with it where the "S" model that only had a 6-speed manual. It might be possible to find an Electric Blue S with an automatic transmission that would be non-CVT, but very few S models where sold with autos in those years.

I'm not saying it's impossible to find a MINI Cooper S in Electric Blue with an auto, but they're few and far between. You'll likely have to shop around the country for it.

All the best in your search!

As far as I know, you'll need to limit your search to 2005 Mini Cooper S models, because Electric Blue wasn't offered on non-S Coopers, and the automatic transmission was only offered on the Cooper S starting in 2005.

I had a similarly difficult search for an Electric Blue S with the limited slip, as the LSD was introduced in '05, the last year for that color. After a few months, I found one about 400 miles from home.

Good luck in your search!

I just traded in our EB '05 MCSa on an '11 MCSa this past weekend. MINI discontinued EB after the 2005 model year and the '05 was the first year with the Aisin 6 speed automatic available for the MCS.

If you consider cars in Canada, you should be able to find a base Cooper in EB with an automatic trannie. You are correct, EB is the best color!!

I would steer away from a 2002-2006 base Cooper with auto (I owned one). It would be less trouble to learn to drive a manual. It's a good skill to have, anyway!
