What should I know?

Hello everyone,

I have just been introduced to the world of MINI and I'm hoping to be making my purchase in the next few weeks. My question is if there are any quirks I should know about. Do you have any tips and other useful information that I should know about? This is also my first post so I'm just trying to get started. Thanks everybody.

Welcome to NAM!
Are you interested in a new or used Mini.
There are 2 generations of Mini's.
1st is 02-06, R50, R52 & R53
2nd is 07-Present,
Both gens. use a 1.6L motor, but are different from each other.
If you are looking at a used Mini I would suggest looking in the NAM Marketplace classifieds.
At least the Mini's listed there are cared for by their owners.
You can get all the info you need, and don't need, by reading the different
postings of each type of car.

These are the quirkiest cars I have ever seen. My used one does some odd things.

Now these are designed this way:
Battery dead? Lights flash like a strobe when starting.
Backup sensor doesn't like the car within 6 inches of anything while backing (tough when my garage door is ALWAYS 2-3 inches).
When washer fluid is out, a yellow flashing light goes off on the end of the column tree.
Run flats squeak on the road when low on air.
Run flats are hard as rock
Run flats are a god send if you have a flat
Girls fall in love with your MINI
Kids love your MINI (they think its cute).
Every mini driver (just about), becomes a family member (thanks guys!).

Welcome to the forum, and the obsession.

PS: I can't wait for the 2 seater Cabrio, is it just me? Sorry not meant as a highjack.

Thank you for the warm welcome and the very helpful tips. I'll def keep them in mind. I really can't wait till I buy my MINI. My obsession is already in full swing.
