Looking in, Learning. A prospective MINI owner
Hi. folks!
I'm taking a peek into the NAM world because I've been searching for info regarding a purchase of a used MSC. Not a particular one yet, but then, that's why I'm here!
I have many questions to ask and I will do that in the appropriate forums.
Let me first introduce myself in here.
My name is Ricky. I'm in East Texas. I do not currently own a MINI and hadn't even driven one until last weekend.
I do have some Classic Mini history; Back in the Seventies (eeek!) a friend and I were into autocrossing and repairing import cars. I had a Sprite MkIV and he ran Minis. I was Mini Pit Crew. He had a couple of stockers (850 & 998) but he had a 1275S that was the roll-bar-and-a-seat Race Car running "A Prepared" class. He got a LOT of FTDs back then. 10X6 Cosmic wheels and Goodyear Blue Streak Sports Car Specials.....Ahhhh the memories, but I digress.
Needless to say, the Italian Job holds a special place in my heart and I knew as soon as I spotted my first MINI that Michael would HAVE to remake that movie!
When the MINI came out I didn't need one (!) so I've just admired them from afar. A while back and while not actually in the market for a car my daughter test drove a MINI; she told me she REALLY liked it, but it seemed slow. I told her to try a MCS. She did. She hasn't stopped yammering about it since!!
It's time, now, for me to find her a (used) MINI. Of course, an MCS! She says "Once you go S you are forever baseless"
So, that's what brings me here! the quest for knowledge specific to MINIs and the pros/cons of the variations that are out there.
As I have been gaining insight about these cars and driving a few, I'm starting to get some sort of itch to maybe just get one of my own!
