I am a new Mini Owner. Acquired a Chilli Pepper Red 2004 Mini Cooper S with checkerboard room and and checkerboard exterior rear view mirrors and racing stripes on the bonnet.

Hello, congrats on your MINI! I recently also purchased a 2004 dark grey mini cooper s. When you are moving slow and turn the wheel do you hear a electronic sound? (PowerSteering Whine)? Just checking if this is normal on 04's's or something I should be wary of. Again Congrats!

 

I haven't noticed and noise that is out of the ordinary but will check next time I am out.

Welcome, ijourneaux! Do you have any pics of your car yet? We would love to see them. From your description it sounds like it looks a lot like ours. We have chili red/white with checked mirror & bonnet stripes but no checkboard inside. That would look cool too. Have fun with your new toy!

 

Don't fear that whine. First gens have a power steering sub motor.
