NYC Dweller No More

Hi there. Been a city dweller for the last 11 years and never needed a car. I'm moving out of NYC and just purchased a 2006 Mini Cooper S.

I bought the car in PA and Pennsylvania doesn't have front license plates. I'm curious as to the best way to install front license plates.

Also, there are a few paint chips from stones on the bumper and bonnet. Has anyone used a product they would like to recommend for touching up these minor blemishes?

Thx!

K

Congrats on the new (to you) MINI!

You have two general choices:

1. The front bumper is plastic; license place can be attached directly. It's simple and functional... a bit of a problem for if you are ever selling the car and have a potential PA buyer.

2. There are a few companies that make a front plate holder for the MINI that uses the tow hook port (look for a small panel on the right side of the front bumper). Here's a link to CravenSpeed's Platypus plate holder as an example.

Welcome to NAM and congrats on the purchase! S models are a ton of fun.

JTBrown summed it up quite well, I personally hate having to have a front license plate holder but what can you do.

As for the bumps and chips you can always use a touch-up pen. I believe outmotoring.com sells them in the factory colors.

Welcome to the forum, if you have to get a front license plate, just have someone drill a couple of holes in front and screw it on. I personally don't like the offset plate, for some reason it makes me think of a '75 Ford Galaxie.

skip the front plates, it means you need to drill holes into your MINI if you insist on front plates.

Very likely isn't an option. OP has moved out of New York City and has just bought a car previously owned in PA... if he's still in NY or in NJ that means he needs a front and a back plate.
