Just bought a Cooper S!
Greetings all!
I am stationed out here in Germany, and last month I sold my S2000 to buy an MCS. It's an '05 with 67k miles, and I've spent most of my time so far just getting the car where it should be. I've done a full paint correction, cleaned the intercooler, replaced the hydraulic motor mount, belt, belt tensioner, idler, ac compressor, and I've also done the oneball and installed a secondhand Megan racing header.
Anything else to look out for?

I definitly agree with you on that one... It seems like the car has been in the air more than on the ground since I've bought it. I'm just keeping an eye out for any other potential trouble spots. That being said, now that I'm not afraid of the belt snapping, my wife and I are planning a trip to the Nurburgring later this summer with a few of the other MINI owners from the area, and then maybe a drive down to Italy.

I'm stationed in Mannheim. I suggest you go find some twisties on the backroads or some on and off ramps for the autobahn and enjoy the MINI. I'm wishing I wasn't still in the break-in period on mine.

Twisties.
Trust me, I've hit all the best roads in Bavaria and Bad-Wurttemburg and beyond in either the S2k or MINI or both. Both cars have terrorized Heidelberg. :P. I like the MCS - for a mix of speed and practicality, you can't freaking beat it! I mean, I can actually pick up the parts I buy for the car, WITH the car!
what some good drives in the Mannheim/Heidelberg area? Unfortunately, work has kept me busy as of late and looks like it will for the next bit. If I can get the chance though I would love to take a drive. I love the S on-ramp from the 656 to the 6 and the roundabouts all over the place. On base, don't need the brakes for any curve when following the speed limit.
Sorry it took so long
We've been bouncing between hohenfels and Graf and back. I don't remember specifically around Heidelberg, we just kinda went driving around when we stayed out that way. If you have a gps, just tell it to stay off of highways. It's what we did, and it worked out well. Good luck!
