Hi all. New member in Michigan, don't own a Mini yet (currently have a BMW 645 though, so i'm already in the BMW family) and am considering getting a used one as a winter car/kids car (stick only as you can guess from my username). Taking all advice on what to buy/avoid.
Welcome to the forum, you should get all sorts of advice of what is good, what is bad, take it all in then go looking and decide what it is you want, thats what you should buy, free advice is free!
I sold a BMW 323 convertible when I bought the MINI MCS convertible. The MINI shows its BMW lineage with every drive.
I'd recommend the 6 speed - but you already want that - and I think you'll be happier with the S. All 2007 or later S models have the turbo (except the convertible which switched to the turbo starting with the 2009 model year). Some like the supercharged (pre 2007) S better but I really like the way the turbo has such strong torque at low RPM. Max torque is reached at about 1,400 RPM and runs almost to redline with the turbo versions.
I'd look for one with the xenons and cold weather package as the heated seats are typical BMW - fast warm up.
Happy hunting!!
