Hi, im new on this forum and i am starting to look for a cooper s for my next car....

Im taking infos on the forum before selling my current car, unfortunately my budget will probably allow me to buy a 1st gen only, and it begins to scare me a little with all those reliability problems.....

Do the 2006 seems to have less troubles than the first productions years??

I would really like to get one but my wife will probably make a lot of mileage on it cause she works far from home and i dont want to get her in trouble with this car....

I know im on a MINI forum but i would like to have your advice!

Thanks!

Don't let the "Reliability Issues" put you off the MINI as a dependable daily driver. The MINI is just as reliable as any other of the cars of today. Certainly an '06 will be fine, just avoid the R50 (base Cooper) with the CVT automatic transmission, if it goes out there no fixing it and a replacement will run $7,000. R53's "S" types are fine with automatic. Try to find one that looks and drives good, have it checked out by a knowledgeable MINI mechanic, pull a Carfax to make sure it is not an accident or flood survivor, buy it and enjoy.
